Dancin' & Prancin'

Traditionally gabonese music is upbeat and complex in rhythmic patterns. Libreville's soundtrack is a rich melting pot of similar sounds. DJs spin tunes from all over the continent in addition to your Gabon staples and some of your classics.

Transportation
Accomodations

Should you need assistance getting around, the following services exist in the city

  • Hotel Taxis: if you are staying in a hotel, check-in with your concierge about drivers nightly rates - note: it is best to give them a 24 hour notice, but very often they would make themselves available to drive you to all the locations you need to visit as well as wait for you.

  • Gozem ride app - you guessed it, it is a car service which works a lot like Uber or Lyft which proposes half day bookings for car services - it may require use of a local phone number.

  • NB: The Viree au Cap Esterias  Itinerary is an "out of town" destination and it would be best to make that clear to the driver.

Hi

I am Lu, and i'll be your virtual Tour Guide. Much like you, I love food tourism! It is my favorite

way to discover and learn about new culture. I love meeting and breaking bread with the locals and learning about the traditions behind their staple meals.

In 2023 I designed an in person Libreville Food Tour called Saveurs Du Gabon (Translates to: Flavors of Gabon) which proposed three different itineraries taking you to trying out the best of the staples while hopping arounf the city. While I have since taken a break from this fun activity, I wanted to make a self guding tour available for the foodies and the culture lovers.

Click on each title to download your guide & enjoy the best (in my humble opinion) from food entrepreneurs in Libreville.

Culturally, Gabonese food represents gems of fishing, hunting and harvest. Traditional food is the wonderful mix of all three. Showcasing the best that the land, the sea and the lakes have to offer.

Libreville is one of the most beautiful cities I have gotten the priviledge to discover. I think you will enjoy its warmth, conviviality and absolutely delicious athmosphere.

Have fun & Bon Appétit !

Safety Tips

Libreville is an extremely welcoming town and I have felt safe in all of the proposed locations.

Yet, I always apply my go-to safety tips when traveling the world;

  • Leave my valuables at the hotel - a notarized print-out of my passport is always good enough for me.

  • Only carry the cash I plan to spend and leave my cards at home (as a standard Libreville is a cash city, so I always practiced that rule)

  • Being aware of my belongings - anywhere I am in the world, I keep my cell phone in my cross body bag whenever I am not using it

  • Stick to well lit areas with people when I am traveling alone at night

  • Organize a ride service to avoid long distance walks in areas I do not know well.
